1 Peter 1 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Matthew
11: 28 ¶Come unto me,
all ye that labour
and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke
upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For
my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. 1
Corinthians 13: 1
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as
sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, and have not charity,
I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed
the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth
me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth
long, and is kind; charity
envieth not; charity vaunteth not
itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth
not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all
things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth:
but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be
tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in
part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come,
then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake
as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became
a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also
I am known. 13 And now abideth
faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1
John 3: 1 Behold,
what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we
should be called the sons of God: therefore
the world knoweth us not, because it knew
him not. 2 Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what
we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall
be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And
every man that hath this hope in
him purifieth himself,
even as he is pure. |

7: 33
And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do
whatsoever thing is expedient in me. 34 And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of
the earth, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye
may be saved. 35 And now, my beloved brethren, if this be
the case that these things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God
will show unto you, with power and great glory at the last day, that they are
true, and if they are true has the day of miracles ceased? 36 Or have angels ceased to appear
unto the children of men? Or has he withheld the power of the Holy Ghost from
them? Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or
there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved? 37 Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles
are wrought; and it is by faith
that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these
things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of
unbelief, and all is vain. 38 For no man can be saved, according to the
words of Christ, save they shall have faith in his name; wherefore, if these things
have ceased, then has faith
ceased also; and awful is the state of man, for they are as though there had
been no redemption made. 39 But behold, my beloved brethren, I judge
better things of you, for I judge that ye have faith in Christ because of your meekness;
for if ye have not faith
in him then ye are not fit to be numbered among the people of his church. 40 And again, my beloved brethren, I would
speak unto you concerning hope.
How is it that ye can attain unto faith, save ye shall have hope? 41 And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto
you that ye shall have hope
through
the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised
unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him
according to the promise. 42 Wherefore, if a man have
faith he must
needs have hope; for
without faith
there cannot be any hope. 43 And again, behold I say unto you that he
cannot have faith
and hope, save he shall
be meek,
and lowly of heart. 44 If so, his faith and hope is vain, for none is acceptable before God,
save the meek and lowly in heart; and
if a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses
by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, he must
needs have charity;
for if he have not charity he is
nothing;
wherefore he must needs have charity. 45 And charity suffereth
long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not
puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily
provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in
iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all
things. 46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all,
for all things
must fail— 47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found
possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. 1 Peter 1 21 Who by him do believe
in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your
souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart
fervently: 23 Being born again, not of
corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 25 But the word of the Lord endureth
for ever. And this is the word which by the
gospel is preached unto you. 48
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of
heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true
followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of
God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see
him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure.
Amen. |
